Orion Pharma’s GenAI Adoption Journey: Turning Copilot into Business Value

As an innovative pharmaceutical company with more than 4,000 employees across 35+ countries, Orion Pharma is implementing AI and machine learning-based solutions across its value chain. In addition to more specialized R&D and supply chain applications, the company wanted to help its people reduce time spent on repetitive knowledge work, improve collaboration, and prepare the organization for the growing role of generative AI in everyday business processes.

To achieve this, Orion launched M365 Copilot with Fujitsu's structured training, workshops, and a Champions Community that enabled employees to learn from each other and share practical use cases. Rather than focusing only on technology deployment, Orion has been investing heavily in user adoption and skills development.

The results have been impressive. Copilot license coverage expanded from approximately 50 pilot users to all knowledge workers globally and other users who require it. Employees use Copilot in tools such as Teams, Word and Copilot Chat to summarize meetings, create and improve documents, accelerate content creation and reduce manual work.

“We have made generative AI tools and Copilot user support widely available to Orionees because we see how this can improve both efficiency and employee experience”, says Kristiina Lundell, IT Service Manager at Orion Pharma.

Building on this success, Orion is now expanding its AI journey beyond personal productivity to explore AI agents and Copilot Studio capabilities. The company's strong adoption rates, thriving Champions Community, and continuous learning culture have created a scalable foundation for long-term AI transformation.
