Basware, a global leader in invoice lifecycle management and cloud-based purchase-to-pay solutions, is working with Fujitsu to migrate from its traditional network to the Cato Networks SASE Cloud Platform. The transition was driven by the need to replace a fragmented legacy network – the new solution modernizes inter-office connectivity globally, consolidate cloud access, and improve end-user VPN experience. The modern and secure solution simplifies daily work and has received significant positive feedback from end-users.
Basware identified a critical need to modernize its legacy, fragmented network infrastructure, which no longer met the requirements of a growing, international organization. The setup hindered visibility, management, and the seamless integration of new acquisitions.
“The need for a new network solution was significant, as the old system no longer met our needs. Technologies operated in isolation, hindering visibility and overall system management. Additionally, it was unclear how new acquisitions could be integrated seamlessly into the systems”, says Tomi Töyrylä, Senior Solution Manager, Basware.
In June 2024, Basware signed a three-year agreement with Fujitsu to implement a modern, cloud-based Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solution. Cato Networks was selected for its global reach, performance, agility and user-friendliness. Fujitsu was responsible for the solution’s design, deployment, ongoing services, and continuous development.
The project’s objective was to design and deploy a cloud-native platform that integrates SD-WAN, managed security, and global backbone services into a unified solution. Close collaboration between Basware, Fujitsu, and Cato Networks ensured a smooth and successful rollout.
“Identity-based access management enhances security, and by consolidating multiple interfaces into a single pane of glass, the solution has drastically simplified service operations, freeing up valuable time and resources”, says Tomi Töyrylä.
“We selected Fujitsu as our service partner because of its references and Basware's previous experience,” says Mika Korhonen, Director of Enterprise Solutions at Basware. “Their expertise in Cato’s SASE technology was particularly influential in the decision. As a trusted and comprehensive partner, Fujitsu ensured a successful implementation and smooth transition to the new system.”
“This has been a great continuation of our long-standing collaboration with Basware,” says Mika Kytövaara, Senior Sales Lead, Fujitsu. “Cato Networks is experiencing strong global growth, and we are proud to be able to offer Basware a modern, cloud-based network solution.”
Basware now benefits from a globally managed, secure, and agile network infrastructure that enhances user experience, strengthens cybersecurity, and supports dynamic business growth. This project demonstrates how a modern SASE solution can transform network performance, security, and manageability – and stands as an excellent example of successful collaboration benefiting all parties involved.
